This I believe in the Golden Rule

I believe we should always treat others as we want to be treated. If we don’t follow through with the Golden Rule bad things will happen it’s a fact. If we go bomb another country they are bound and determined to bomb us. If we treat that country with compassion and care they will treat us with compassion and care.

We live our lives being selfish always looking out for our best interest, in the end though are we really looking out for our best interest? This comes from the statement, I will rub your back if you rub mine. Sometimes and most of the time, we will have to rub the backs of those we despise of first. Gratification doesn’t come through money or things, it come through the ones that care when we need it most. Through the years I have put this statement to the test, and 9 out of 10 times it works. For example the other day my wife and I were having a hard time, we were arguing and getting into small fights. When she left for school I cleaned the whole house and cooked a batch of cookies. When she returned home she couldn’t stop thanking me and we didn’t have one argument for the whole next week, all because of one little gesture of kindness.

If we all just lived by the Golden Rule do onto others as we want done onto ourselves, this world would be a much more peaceful place. Though we still might have a few bad eggs we just have to kill them off with kindness. They may be stubborn and very rude but if you just go out of your way to treat them with compassion sooner or later they will brake and return the favor. This Golden Rule does have a downside, the fact that we are selfish human beings and such a hard time putting the ones we despise of the ones we hate first. We can give them money we can give them things but a little of our time is all they need.

So I encourage you to do onto others as you want done onto ourselves and you view the results if it doesn’t work right away don’t give up because sooner or later it will. The Golden rule knows no boundaries of race, religion, or sex it only knows an act of kindness can go a long way. It is with this Golden rule that we can spread peace throughout this world one person at a time.

Classical Pranks

So this last Saturday we were fairly busy at work but I had a little down time to pull a couple of pranks. My first prank was quite simple but worked excellent. As we all know there is snow on the ground, well I got me some that snow and made me a ball. Instead of throwing it at somebody I placed it on my co-workers front desk chair while he was still sitting in it. I walked away and got back to work. A couple of minutes later he comes out laughing and his pants were soaked. He said he started to feel something getting wet when he stood up he found a snow ball. Just a simple innocent prank. My next prank was the more elaborate one and lasted much longer. My co-worker decided to get out of doing some work, he would volunteer to go pick up a customer. As he headed on his way I went out of my way to pull one of his spark plug wires off on his vehicle. When he arrived back and all the work was done it was time to go home. I challenged him to a race with our vehicles I got in mine and started it up. Then he got in his and, cranked and cranked. I asked him what had happened he though the fuel pump went out. So I pulled his vehicle into our shop and we began to look it over after about 30 minutes I pretended to find the loose wire. Mind you there are about five other people in the shop that know whats going on this whole time. We put the wire back on and the vehicle started the funniest part was he was on cloud nine. We had our shop Christmas party that night and I waited until then to tell him boy was he embarrassed.

Meeting Rush Hour Head On

This post takes place last Wednesday during the heavy snow storm it was about 5 pm and vehicle were everywhere. We receive a call about a two car pile up from the police department and quickly headed out. We had no clue how severe the accident was as we rarely do. As we heading to the scene we saw flashing lights coming down the road it was a fire truck heading in the same direction we were. At this point and time my stomach started turning inside out I had no clue how bad this wreck was going to be. By the time we made it to the scene the whole valley was flashing with lights. There was about 4 cop cars, 1 first responder, and two fire trucks and our two to trucks. I don't believe I have ever saw so many flashing lights or emergency vehicles in one spot. The road was completely blocked off and even we had to wait a minute or two to even be allowed to get the vehicles. As we made our way up the hill I soon realized what the problem was two vehicles had met head on, one going up the hill one coming down. We asked if everyone was ok, and they all were the vehicles were wreck fairly bad but we soon had cleared them out. Traffic was building up and we quickly headed home. I still to this day cannot figure out why so many emergency vehicle were on scene for this accident. The important part is everyone was ok and they will all get to enjoy Christmas this year with their families.

Slow Down Near Flashing Lights!

The other night when it was very icy out I received a call from the police department about a rolled over vehicle. I said I would take the call but the officer said the roads were glare ice so they couldn't leave a patrol car on the scene. I hopped into my tow truck and took my time heading to the scene the officer wasn't lying it was glare ice. Long story short while I was working on winching out the vehicle which was around a slight corner on the back side of a hill I saw headlight heading down the hill. I faced the headlights and watched the vehicle, which I soon realized the was heading straight for me I got ready to jump but just before I jumped the vehicle caught traction and went into the ditch on the opposite side of the road and drove back out. I feared for my life that night and realized how valuable life is. Thank God that car got traction or I would be in the hospital or worse. I just wan't to remind everyone a lot of police officers, construction workers, and tow truck drivers loose their life's every year by people that fail to pay attention to conditions or the flashing lights. I urge you to please slow down and please give the people who some day might help you out of a slippery situation some space to work.

ICY ROADS

During our first winter storms the roads got terrible. I worked all day long and pulled out over six totaled out cars along the highway. Its the first snow storm that people always forget to drive. Slow down when exiting the highway, just slow down period. Life's not a race those who get to there destination first don't get a big trophy or a wad of cash. Most of the time they end up loosing a big wad of cash to their insurance company and have to go out and find a new car. So just remember to slow down just because you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle doesn't mean you can stop any faster after all we all have 4 wheels that have brakes!

Drunk Driver Date From He**

So to start out this story let just say don't get in the vehicle with a drunk driver. Common Sense one would think. Well I thought so until last night when I got a call at 4am asking for a winch out on a 99 Ford Ranger out on County Rd. S in Onalaska. The girl that called me informed me she was not driving and told me to pick her up at Kiwk Trip in Holmen. I arrived at Kwik Trip and picked up the girl and she began telling me the story. So the story goes she was going on her first date with this guy and he arrived at her house to give her a ride. She got in the vehicle and they took of she started to notice he was quite drunk. He then proceeded to ask her to get the bottle of vodka next to him and pour him a shot. All of this was happening while driving down the road she quickly asked him to let her out of the vehicle. He refused for a little while until finally she made him mad enough and he swerved in the ditch which happened to be a large culvert which quickly sucked in his front end. The truck was stuck and they were out in the middle of no where. They then walked over two miles in the middle of the night to her vehicle and he had the nerve to ask her to bring the bottle of vodka with so they could drink while they walked remind you that both of these people are 19. She refused he then even asked if he could have her coat because he was cold this guy isn't to much of a gentleman ask you probably can tell by now. Long story short she drove him home called me when out with me to retrieve his vehicle while he slept. I towed his vehicle back to our shop dropped her off and told her to have a good night. This is the funny slash sad part of the story the girl shows up the next day with the same guy to pick up his vehicle for him because he didn't have a ride. The girl was very insecure and obviosly has no self confidence to stand up for herself I can't beleive on the first date you would let somone drive you around drunk and bail them out and still be with them. Thats just unbelievable! Now that I think back I just should have called the whole thing in as a drunk driver. Then that guy would have got what he really deserved a DUI and a Underage Drinking Ticket!

Halloween Wreck

I received a call at about noon on Halloween day from the Lacrosse county sheriffs department. They needed a tow truck on Highway 35 and East Gaarder St. for a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country with heavy front end damage. The call was less than a quarter mile from our shop so I quickly headed out to the scene. I had to drive by the scene before I could turn around because of the accident being on the opposite side of the road. I saw a tire wedge under the van I was towing. I couldn't figure out where It came from because both vehicles involved all had four tires. When I got to the scene I soon realised where the tire had came from. The vehicle that was rear ended was a Ford Explorer and the spare tire normally sits underneath the vehicle. The van had hit the truck so hard that it caused the spare tire to be ripped out from under the truck. The van was leaking antifreeze and tranny fluid all over the road so I quickly got the vehicle towed back to the shop and cleaned up the accident. No one was injured but I sure both party's weren't having a very good start to their Halloween. The person driving the van was issued a ticket for inattentive driving and then was released. Happy Halloween to all!

Not Again......

So I got a story that none of you guys would believe. Earlier today while I was working I received a wrecker call out on County Rd. D. I quickly jumped into the truck and headed out to the scene. When I arrived at the scene I couldn't believe what I saw, it was the same guy that had just totalled out his vehicle a couple days before. This time it was his work vehicle, though this one was not completely totalled it had heavy damage to the front end. I asked him what the story was, he proceeded to tell me that a vehicle he was following took a very wide right turn. He thought they were turning left because of the wide turn and tried to get around them. Well long story short the vehicle turned right and sent him flying into a culvert. This is a good reminder to remember to have patients and relax while driving. The one or two vehicles that you have to pass dangerously just to save yourself a minute of time, might cost you a lot of money or your life. The driver of this vehicle was not severely injured but did cut open his nose. Both of his vehicle are now sitting in our impound area waiting to be check out. Be safe out there!

Road Rage!

On Sunday I got a wrecker call about 8:30 Pm from one of our good customers. She proceeded to say that her husband got into an accident on I-90 heading eastbound on mile marker four. I quick jumped into the tow truck and headed to the scene. When I arrived there were three cop cars and about three cars on the side of the road. I could not find the vehicle I was looking for, out of the corner of my eye I saw a truck in the median and that was the vehicle I was looking for. At first glance the truck did not look all that bad I though I might even be able to drive it out of the ditch. I got in the vehicle and tried to start it but nothing happened. I then pulled the winch cable out, hooked on, and pulled it up on the flat bed while cars were zooming by. When I got the truck on the flatbed I soon figure out the damage was worse than I thought. The truck was leaking anti freeze and transmission fluid and the frame was twisted. I brought the vehicle back to our impound and it was then that I figured out what happen. The owner of the vehicle was very upset but more or less at himself. He proceeded to tell me that he was coming home from Minnesota on I-90 when two vehicle entered off of Highway 35. He said the vehicles were traveling at a slow rate of speed and cut him off. He then passed one car and jerked his vehicle at the second one to show them he was mad. What happened next he said wasn't supposed to happen. His vehicle began to slide back and forth like it was on ice until he lost control and plowed into the car next to him. Taking out himself and both other cars sending him into the side of the bridge bouncing off back across the highway into the median. The driver of the vehicle did received a ticket, but I didn't ask him why but I think we all can figure it out. To top the story off he just bought this vehicle less that 4 months ago for $8000 and only had liability insurance. None of the drivers were hurt just one lost his ego.

Winter Blues....

I can't believe I woke up this morning and saw snow, it was like a brick hitting me in the chest. The temperature was like 30 degrees in the beginning of October this can't be real. All the scientist seem to think that we have global warming. I think the cold from the Artic is just moving south towards Wisconsin. I guess I'm going to have to get the shovels ready and prepare my house for winter. I already feel less motivated and like there is an extra weight on my chest. I can't deal with these winters in Wisconsin for much longer. I need to make my way down south were its nice and warm all year round.

Personal Challenge

When we went into this class I had no clue what I was going to choose for my personal challenge. I thought about choosing to do some crazy thing I had never done before that would push me to the limit. But instead I ended up choosing to do yoga which is not at all crazy, actually its more of a relaxed type of thing. When I tried yoga most if not all of my preconceived notions came true. I thought it probably would be a class of all girls which it was and I got funny looks. The truth is the yoga experience though was not all that bad it does stretch you out. The relaxation part didn't work for me probably because I was so uncomfortable being the only guy in yoga and not knowing what to do. I did have a good time and might try it again in the future and so should you!

New Furniture!

My wife has been begging me for a new couch now for over two months on Sunday October 4th, I finally gave into her. We have been arguing about a new couch for what seems like forever. The couch we have is just fine its actually pretty nice. She doesn't like our couch because of the the color, style, and it just doesn't feel like its hers. I couldn't believe some of the reason she came up with to get a new couch. Then she would find these couches on criagslist that were down grade from our current couch and say that she just likes the color and material better. I finally told her if we are getting a new couch we are going to upgrade not down grade and it better be a steal of a deal. So on Sunday she found a brown micro fiber sectional couch with a sleeper and recliner built in, the couch also came with a separate recliner, two end tables, and a coffee table all for $800 dollars. The only problem was that the couch was in Buffalo City. She finally convinced me to go look at the couch so we hooked up our trailer and went to Buffalo. The couch was very nice and we figured out it was a year old and they paid $3000 dollars for the whole set up. We talked them down to $700 dollars and took the couch and etc. home. The next problem was we had no room until we sold our old couch which we still have not done. The new couch that she had to have is sitting in my parents garage until we find a home for the old one. Guys and maybe girls alike be aware of the persuasiveness of the other half, she got her couch and shes proud.

21st B-Day Party

To celebrate my 21st birthday party I was planning on having a normal day, you know going out for supper with the family and then maybe trying out some downtown bars for October fest. My 21st was anything but normal but thats what you can expect when your on call for towing company. A normal 21 year old would possibly wait up all night until they turned 21 at 12:01 AM and then go to that bars and drink. My 21st at 12:01 consisted of getting a winch out in Mindoro at 11:30 because a driver went off the edge of a hill and rolled the car until it smash into a tree. My crew and I spent over an hour on scene winching the car out. There was an officer on scene and he thought it was pretty funny that I was spending my 21st winching out a car. The driver was lucky to be unharmed. By the time I arrived back home it was already 1:30am and there was no way I was going out. But with the money I earned and helping someone out of a bad spot I guess you could kind of consider that to be part of my 21st birthday present. I did go out that night and had a fun time at Octoberfest so it was a good 21st.

Concert Day!

Today I will be heading up to the Twin City's to finally see the Rascal Flatts concert! It should be an awesome time. This will be the first concert that I have ever attended. My best friend finally decided to get off work for the concert after his boss called him crazy for not going. The surprise is still ruined but it still should be a kicking time. We will be leaving today around noon and we plan on going to the Mall of America and letting the women do some shopping. Other than the mall and the concert I think we are just going to wing it for the rest of the trip. On Monday it's back to school and work! I will check back in later on in the week to let you know how the concert went.

Surprise!!! Surprise......

As my first post it may not be as extreme as I thought most of my post were going to be, but this post just goes to show how even your best friend can stab you in the back. So let’s get some background information: My 21st birthday is coming up in 13 days and I still have no clue what’s going on or at least I didn't until yesterday. This is how the story goes...my wife and I were lying in bed early in the morning when my best friend called her cell phone. She decided not to answer it, I didn't understand so I asked her why he called. She said “she didn't know”, I assumed it was something to do with my 21st birthday so I left the room and told her to call him back. A couple of minutes later she came out and said "Ok so do you want to know why your friend was calling me?" I said "sure why not". She then proceeded to whip out 4 Rascal Flatts tickets to the Xcel Energy Center for the upcoming weekend. She then proceeded to say "your best friend is the biggest dick ever". Obviously I’m using lighter language. Well as I soon found out my wife had this huge surprise trip planned out with my best friend and his girlfriend to Minneapolis to see Rascal Flatts play because she knew it was my favorite band. They had said the week before that we were going to take a trip up to Minneapolis to go to the Science Museum and just hang out. They completely had me fooled, until my best friend decided to bail a week before the concert because of some stupid (not even mandatory) management conference for his work. In the end we were left without a hotel because his girlfriend had booked a hotel cheap through work and she was no longer going. Also, on top of that we now have a week to get rid of two Rascal Flatts tickets or we’re out the money they cost us. The whole point of this story is my best friend or so I thought ditched me and my wife and ruined my birthday surprise that my wife had been planning for over two months, some best friend. I have two Rascal Flatts tickets for sale so if anyone is interested let me know!
